Warranty and Terms of Service

 

 

All MEGAbyte Computer Systems come with a (1) Year On-Island Parts and Labor Warranty.  The warranty is valid for one year after the invoice date.  “The system must be brought to our service department.  On-site repair/service is not applicable to the system warranty but is available with additional charge. 

  1. It is the responsibility of the customer to review the invoice at the time of purchase to verify that the invoiced hardware/items are received also that the quantity specified on the invoice matches the actual quality given.  Once the invoice is signed it is understood that all products received have been verified to be in good condition.

  1. MEGAbyte will repair and/or replace manufacturer defective software and/or hardware in the system free of charge within the warranty period.  Hardware includes the monitor and all the individual components that comprise the tower unit.  Manufacture defective parts will be replaced by the same part.  In the event that a part is discontinued by the manufacture or no long available on the market, a comparable and reasonable part as determined by MEGAbyte will be used as a replacement.

  1. The warranty only covers original system parts.  Future up-grades are covered under a separate parts warranty.

  1. The warranty DOES NOT cover damages to hardware due to power fluctuations, surges, and lightening strikes.  It is recommended that your system be plugged into a line conditioner, surge protector, or a power backup at all time.

  1. The warranty DOES NOT cover damages resulting from accidental fall, misuse, abuse, product modification, and user neglect. 

  1. The warranty DOES NOT cover damage occurring during shipment, damage from failure to follow instructions contained in instruction manuals, and damage resulting from the performance or repairs made by persons other than MEGAbyte Service Technicians.

  1. The warranty is VOIDED if System Case is opened or tampered with.  The system is secured to maintain system integrity of all components inside and to prevent damage caused by unauthorized service repairs.

  1. Labor installation is free for all items bought from MEGAbyte to upgrade your MEGAbyte system.  Do not attempt to install hardware yourself within the warranty period.  Attempting to do so will void your warranty.

  1. For non-MEGAbyte hardware upgrades, MEGAbyte labor fees apply.  Please consult a service technician for the current labor rates.

  1. The warranty covers the original configuration of your system and/or parts, at the time of purchase.  If a problem arises with your system and it is due to a non-MEGAbyte bought hardware upgrade, labor charges will take effect.

  1. The majority of new systems returned for repair/warranty services as determined by MEGAbyte were diagnosed with the following problems:

-          Conflicts between software applications (i.e. third party software, games and unlicensed software)

-          Incorrect software installation.  Please ensure that all drivers are installed properly and successfully.

-          Viruses.  It is recommended that you run virus detection software weekly to prevent the corruption of files.

-          Improper maintenance of the computer operating system.  A scan disk and disk defragmentation is recommended at lease once a month to keep the computer system running at its optimal performance.  The warranty DOES NOT cover software conflict, incorrect software in stallion, and damage due to viruses, but MEGAbyte will restore/reconfigure your system to the original setting ONCE at no cost.  A fee will be charged for further restorations.  Another option is to pay a one-time fee for a restoration disk.  With a restoration disk, the user can restore the system to original settings themselves. 

  1. All systems turned in for warranty service and/or repair will be evaluated.  It will then be determined if problems with system are due to manufacture defective parts.  If manufacturer defective part is found, there will be no chare for labor.  Otherwise, MEGAbyte service and repair fees apply.

  1. MEGAbyte is not responsible for any data loss on systems turned in for warranty repair and/or service.  Please back-up your data as necessary.  Backing up of data is the customer’s responsibility.

  1.  Data back up is not an automatic task.  If desire, MEGAbyte Technical Services can provide this service for an additional labor fee.  Please check with the service department for current labor charges.

Return Policy and Hardware Warranty Information 

  1. All returns must be accompanied by original receipt.

  1. All hardware and system returns must be tested and verified by MEGAbyte Technicians to be in working order.

  1. All returns must include original packaging and all of the accompanying items.  (Packing, Manuals, Cables, Disks, etc).  If the packaging is damaged or if any components are missing then the return cannot be validated.  A 20% restocking fee will be assessed on the return.

  1. All software sales are final!  There is no exchange or refunds on software purchases.

  1. For complete system purchases, you have 2 days from date of pick-up/delivery for a complete refund.  All original packaging and materials must be returned in sellable condition.  After the 2nd Day, a 20% restocking fee applies.  After the 14th day the sale is final – no exchange or refund on the system will be accepted.

  1. Printers can only be returned if proven defective.  The Service Department will run a complete diagnostic on the printer and will determine if it is defective.  If it is defective and not past 7 days, then a new printer can be given to the customer providing that all original packaging is complete.  Also if the printer is proven not defective and the cartridge or toner is already opened then there is NO REFUND, NO RETURN AND NO EXCHANGE.

  1. All new hardware sold as a separate parts sale by MEGAbyte comes with a (1) One Year Warranty.  This includes processors, hard drives, monitors, RAM, modems, video cards, sound cards, etc.  If hardware is tested to be manufacturer defective, you have a choice for an exchange or in-store credit.  There is no cash refund on hardware purchases.  All hardware purchases can be returned for a full refund as an in-store credit within 2 days of purchased or received date.  After the 2nd day, but within 30 days, a 20% restocking fee applies.  After the 30th day the sale is final.

  1. There is no return, exchange, or refund on media such as floppy disks, zip disks, super disks, CD-R/RW, DVD+R, paper, labels or similar media.  All sales are final on media.

  1. Returned Computer Accessories (Mouse, Keyboard, Webcams and similar devices) are subject to a 20% restocking fee within 30 days.
